Composer Peter Schindler on this separate edition from "Perpetuum mobile":

The text "Iam dudum estivalia pertransiere tempora" (The summer season has long since passed) comes from the later-discovered supplementary part of the Codex Buranus. The codex was obviously used by those who had access to it, for occasional song entries were made until well into the fourteenth century. As a result of the continued collecting activity, the Codex Buranus grew into an impressive collection of songs and texts. More than thirty anonymous scribes – as opposed to authors – were involved in the compilation of the manuscript.

In this winter song (text from Appendix 3 in the Codex Buranus) each one of its original five rhythmic verses rhymes masterfully with one of the five vowels. The setting is conceived as a jazzy pop ballad, in combination with a background choir which sings passionately about the changing seasons just one last time before the finale.
