Maybe the most famous and most beloved song about the importance of music. Henry Purcell wrote his song for the tragedy Oedipus in 1678. The keyboard part of Purcells beautiful theatre music has been transcribed for a cappella choir with a solo voice by professor Gunnar Eriksson. This arrangement was later adapted for women’s voices by Maria Gamborg Helbekkmo, conductor of the Norwegian choir Voci Nobili.
