Composed by Gabriel Faure. This edition: audio, pdf. 20th Century, Classical, Romantic Period, Standards, Wedding. 18 pages. Cheryl M. G. Schaefer #1114509. Published by Cheryl M. G. Schaefer (A0.1541859).
Gabriel Fauré originally composed the Pavane In F-Sharp Minor, Op. 50 for piano and later rearranged it for orchestra and optional chorus (late 1880s). This arrangement for saxophones is based on the orchestral version, which became one of his most well-known pieces. Pavane begins with a gentle, simple backing over which soars a supple, passionate melody you will not soon forget.
The instrumentation for this edition is extremely flexible. It can be performed as a quintet or quartet and alternate instrumentation for parts 1, 3, and 5 are included as listed:
Part 1 Soprano Saxophone (Alto Saxophone)
Part 2 Alto Saxophone
Optional Part 3 Tenor Saxophone (Alto Saxophone)
Part 4 Tenor Saxophone
Part 5 Baritone Saxophone (Bass Clarinet).
